My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
Text: Galatians 3: 10
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.’”
Galatians 3:10
THOSE WHO TEACH THE WORKS OF THE LAW
1. The Apostle Paul was aware of those who insist on teaching about the works of the law.
2. The people who emphasised this were the scribes and Pharisees.
3. Paul had first-hand knowledge of this, for he was a well-trained Pharisee before he became a Christian.
CITING AN IMPORTANT TEXT
1. Warning of a curse from God.
“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse”
Galatians 3:10a
a. The law had two parts:
i. The promise of God’s blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
ii. The warning of God’s cursing (Deuteronomy 28:15-68).
b. Those who were teaching people about keeping the law.
i. They did not highlight this warning of God’s curse.
ii. People would then be deceived because they were not properly warned.
2. The text was cited from the book of Deuteronomy.
a. Paul cited a text from Deuteronomy 27:26.
“‘Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.” And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’”
Deuteronomy 27:26
b. This word was like a prelude to Deuteronomy 28.
c. To teach people that they can keep the laws of God and earn salvation was wicked and erroneous.
i. Nobody can keep all the laws of God.
ii. Israel never kept these laws successfully.
iii. How could they demand that Gentiles keep the laws/works of God?
iv. No salvation would be found through keeping the law.
v. Failure to keep the law could lead to rejection of God ultimately.

iii.
