My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Galatians 5
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”
Galatians 5:1
STANDING FAST IN FAITH
1. Blessings that stem from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
a. Many blessings stem from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
i. We are justified by faith (Galatians 2:16).
ii. We have the Holy Spirit supplied (Galatians 3:2, 5, 14).
iii. We are Abraham’s seed through the Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:29).
iv. We are called sons of God (Galatians 4:6-7).
v. We have liberty from the law (Galatians 2:4).
b. These are only some of the blessings God has given because of our faith in the Lord Jesus.
c. There are many other blessings,
2. The blessing of “Liberty”.
a. The word “liberty” means “freedom”.
b. The opposite of this word is “enslavement”.
c. This liberty has been given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ.
d. It is to be deeply treasured!
3. The “yoke of bondage”
a. Paul was making reference to the doctrines of the false teachers.
b. They were teaching people:
i. That justification comes from keeping the law.
ii. The whole law must be fully and faithfully kept.
iii. These would include the man-made commandments that the false teachers came up with.
c. Those who listen to these false teachers would end up with being “entangled again with a yoke of bondage”.
i. They would not stand justified before God.
ii. They would be entangled because there were numerous laws that are impossible to keep.
iii. The end-result is that all who follow the false teachers would be in bondage.
4. Standing fast in faith.
a. This is what every believer must do.
b. The liberty that the Lord Jesus has given must be carefully guarded.
c. Every believer must:
i. Stand for truth.
ii. Stand for faith.
iii. Stand for the Lord Jesus.
iv. Stand for liberty.
v. Stand for himself in the liberty God has graciously given.
