My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)

Text: Galatians 5:5-6
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”
Galatians 5:5-6
THE VITAL PLACE OF FAITH
1. Paul once again highlighted the place of Faith.
a. The word “justification” is directly related to the word “righteousness”.
b. To receive justification means:
i. God accounts us as righteous in His sight.
ii. He has imputed righteousness (given) to us.
2. How was this possible?
a. God sent the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour/ Redeemer.
b. The Lord Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins.
c. He also sent the Holy Spirit to us:
i. To regenerate us.
ii. To be our Seal.
iii. To be our Guarantee.
iv. To be our Guide and Teacher.
3. The Hope of our righteousness.
a. Why was the word “hope” used?
b. The word “hope” does not mean:
i. That our justification is uncertain.
ii. That we may lose our salvation.
c. The word “hope” was used by the Apostle Paul in a special way.
i. He used it to refer to the future.
ii. This has to do with the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
iii. We may eagerly await the 2nd Coming of the Lord with joy and confidence that we will be received as people who are justified (righteous).
iv. Faith enables us to have this joyous and certain hope.
4. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
a. What really avails?
i. It is not circumcision.
ii. It is also not uncircumcision.
b. It is faith that avails.
c. Having faith does not mean doing nothing.
d. Faith that is real would be evident in good works of love.
e. However, works outside faith in the Lord Jesus also avails nothing.

经文:加拉太书 5
“我们靠着圣灵,凭着信心,等候所盼望的义。6 原来在基督耶稣里,受割礼不受割礼全无功效,唯独使人生发仁爱的信心才有功效。”
《加拉太书 5:5-6》
