Text: Galatians 5: 19-21

MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,
outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Galatians 5:19-21

THE WORKS OF THE FLESH

1. A listing of the things associated with the flesh.

a. This is not an exhaustive list.
b. This list was made for good reason.

2. To highlight the danger of these practices.

a. If the way of the flesh is pursued, then these works can result.
b. These works would be similar to the lifestyle of the past.
i. Where one is worldly.
ii. Where one is ungodly.
iii. Where one is sinful.
iv. Where one lives without regard for God.

3. To give a clear word of warning.

a. This was not a new word of warning.
b. Paul had been teaching this consistently.
c. Those who practise these things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
d. No genuine children of God would pursue the lifestyle of the flesh.
e. The sinfulness of such a life is appalling to true children of God.
f. A chid of God will treasure his relationship with God the Father.

4. Valuing the Kingdom of God.

a. We are received as children of God.
b. We will inherit blessings associated with the kingdom of God.
c. These blessings are to be deeply appreciated and not taken for granted.

情欲的事

1. 关于情欲的事

a. 这不是一个详尽的清单

b. 写这个清单是有充足的理由

2. 这是要强调这些作法的危险性

a. 如果追求情欲的事物，这些事将会发生

b. 这些事如同过往的生活方式

i. 凡是世俗的

ii. 凡是不敬虔的

4. 珍惜上帝的国度

a. 我们被接受为上帝的子女

b. 我们会承受有关天国的祝福
