My Song In The Night (Gospel of John)
The Writing Of The Gospels
Text: John 20:30-31
“And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples,
which are not written in this book;
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,
and that believing you may have life in His name.”John 20:30-31
THE WRITING OF THE GOSPELS
There are four Gospels (books). Mathew and John were the original Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, they wrote as eye-witnesses of the Lord. Mark and Luke wrote their Gospels after having done careful research about the life, the teachings and the miracles performed by the Lord Jesus Christ!
THE GOSPEL OF JOHN
The Apostle John explained why he wrote his Gospel. He chose the sign-miracles of Jesus as the core content of his book.
1. Signs
a. John was referring to the special miracles Jesus performed.
b. He called these miracles “signs”
i. As proof that God was with Jesus.
ii. As evidence that Jesus was truly sent by God.
c. These signs were witnessed by His disciples.
d. The other Gospels recorded other miracles not found in the Gospel of John.
2. A special reason for writing
a. That readers may understand who Jesus is.
b. That He is indeed the Son of God.
c. That He is truly the Messiah… the Christ… the Anointed One of God.
3. A wonderful result
a. To find faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
b. And through believing in Jesus as the Saviour find eternal life.
THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE
The following are some of the most moving promises made by the Lord Jesus Christ concerning eternal life. May we respond to these wonderful promises and find eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
1. Children of God
“But as many as received Him,
to them He gave the right to become children of God,
to those who believe in His name.”John 1:12
2. Everlasting life
“Most assuredly, I say to you,
he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life,
and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”John 5:24
1. 神迹
