Vital Questions Raised
Text: John 4:11-14
VITAL QUESTIONS RAISED
There was a lively and significant conversation between Jesus and the woman of Samaria. The Samaritan woman had many questions to raise to the Lord Jesus.
1. She did not understand what Jesus meant about “living water”.
“Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?”
John 4:11
a. She thought that Jesus was speaking of literal water.
b. Jesus did not have a pail with Him.
c. How could He give living water?
2. She did not know who Jesus really was
“Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
John 4:12
a. Jacob was a highly regarded patriarch among the Samaritans.
b. He had drunk from the well himself; and so did his descendants.
c. Was Jesus truly greater?
IMPORTANT ANSWERS GIVEN
The answers Jesus gave was not only for the Samaritan woman. What He taught that day are immortal truths!
1. The physical (literal) water
“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again”
John 4:13
a. Jesus was not making reference to the water at Jacob’s well.
b. Thirst will be quenched only by partaking of the spiritual living water.
2. The water that Jesus faithfully promised to give:
a. Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst (John 4: 14).
b. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4: 14).
THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE DESCRIBED AFRESH
The gift of God is eternal life and it may indeed be compared to “living water”.
1. The imagery of water
Without water, one will die a miserable death.
a. As water is vitally important to life, so is the gift of God.
b. As water brings about a sense of refreshing, so does living water refresh the soul!
2. Never thirst again
The salvation and new life offered by Jesus is well-compared to living, life-giving water! The believer will never feel dry and thirsty in his soul! Salvation is like a fountain of living water in the life of the believer!
经文:约翰福音4:11-14
提出了关键的问题
耶稣与撒马利亚的妇人进行了一个活跃及重要的谈话。撒马利亚的妇人向主耶稣提出了许多问题。

《约翰福音 4: 11》
a. 雅各是撒马利亚人当中十分受重视的先祖
b. 他自己喝这井里的水,连他的后代也喝这井里的水
c. 耶稣真的比他还大吗?
