我夜间的歌曲 (约翰福音)
The Beginning of the Feast
Text: John 7: 14-16
THE BEGINNING OF THE FEAST
Jesus did not make Himself known. His own family members went on their own to Jerusalem. He chose to attend the Feast “in secret”. He would be there to quietly observe the celebration of the Feast of the Tabernacles.
THE MIDDLE OF THE FEAST
Jesus must have received a word from His Father, for He went to the temple and taught the multitudes.
“Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, ‘How does this Man know letters, having never studied?’ Jesus answered them and said, ‘My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.’”
John 7:14-16
1. “Jesus went up into the temple”
a) Part of the Tabernacles celebration involved worship at the temple.
b) Jesus was part of the throng that went to the temple to offer worship.
2. “And taught”
a) An opportunity arose for Jesus to teach.
b) People gathered around Him very swiftly.
c) Soon a sizeable crowd must have surrounded Him.
d) He taught those who came to Him.
3. “The Jews marvelled”
a) There was a mixture of thoughts and feelings about Jesus.
b) There was grudging admiration but there was also resentment.
c) There was certainly jealousy for none of the Jewish teachers could command such respect.
d) There was also scorn and mockery.
e) The general feeling among the Jews was that Jesus was not one of them… a trained rabbi.
f) They had not seen Jesus in any of the Rabbinic schools.
He was uneducated as far as they were concerned.
4. Jesus’ answer to the Jews
a) His doctrine came from God His Father.
b) His Father had sent Him to teach these profound doctrines.
God Himself had taught Jesus (Isaiah 50:4-5).
