A Significant Record of True Salvation
Text: John 9: 39
A SIGNIFICANT RECORD OF TRUE SALVATION
This was a very special moment for the former blind man! His life had taken a very significant and positive turn.
1. His former life
a. He was born blind.
b. He suffered terribly, probably begging for a living.
2. His new life
a. He was healed and he could now see.
b. A whole new life and future awaited him.
c. But what was more important:
i. He had found faith in Jesus.
ii. He gave his heart to the Son of God.
iii. He would worship Jesus from here on.
iv. It did not matter if the whole community had rejected him!
A SIGNIFICANT WORD FROM THE LORD JESUS
This was also a special moment for Jesus. It is always deeply moving when a person comes to genuine faith in the Son of God. This moved Him to make the following statement.
“And Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.’”
John 9:39
1. “For judgment I have come into this world”
a. For judgment I have come into this world.
i. The word “judgment” is used in a special way.
ii. This is not a reference to the final judgment of the dead.
iii. It is a reference to the obvious difference that He saw right before His eyes.
b. “That those who do not see may see”
i. Specifically, in this context, it is a reference to the former blind man.
ii. It is a general reference to those who are spiritually blind, they can find spiritual sight in Jesus.
c. “And that those who see may be made blind”
i. Spiritual blindness occurs when we choose to reject the Saviour who can open our eyes.
ii. Arrogance and stubbornness are often the sins that continue to make us blind.

iii.
