Day 175 – Psalm 106

“And let all the people say, ‘Amen!” Psalm 106:48b

A CANDID APPROACH

The psalmist had taken a very candid approach when he reviewed the checkered history of Israel. The children of Israel had proven themselves unfaithful to their Covenant-God. They had proven themselves unworthy of the many covenant promises of blessings.

CONCLUDING ON A STRONG NOTE OF PRAISE

The psalmist nevertheless was able to trace a silver lining amidst the dark clouds that seemed to hover over Israel. Though Israel may be under severe oppression, there was still hope in God. The Lord would hear their cry for help. He would always come to their rescue in their hour of desperate need and sorrow. This thought alone merits the giving of praise to the Lord.
