Day 330 – Psalm 131

“LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty.” Psalm 131:1

SUPERSCRIPTION: A SONG OF ASCENTS. OF DAVID.

We have another simple superscription that identifies the psalmist David as the author.

CANDID PERSONAL EVALUATION

The Songs of Ascents often displayed a great sense of candour. The psalmist David shares a personal and candid evaluation of himself in this Psalm.

“LORD, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the LORD
From this time forth and forever.”
Psalm 131:1-3

1. The heart

It is not haughty (proud).

2. The eyes
