Day 101 – Psalm 14

“Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!” Psalm 14:7

A BRUISING BATTLE

The battle with atheism is never academic. He had to battle atheism on at least two fronts:-

1. Ideologically

a) Atheism was an ideology that some had bought into.
b) It may not be based on good Biblical knowledge, but it was still an ideology that drew many.

2. Practically

a) Wicked deeds were perpetrated by those who rejected God.
b) They thought nothing about how they harmed people.

DOING THE NECESSARY

Though the battle was hard, David never failed to do his part. Two things were done consistently.

1. He would declare his faith in God boldly.

2. He would expose the wicked activities of those who had rejected God.

A DEEP LONGING FOR DIVINE DELIVERANCE

There was something else that David could do. The following text reveals yet another thing that he sought to do.

“Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people.
Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.”

Psalm 14:7

1. Nothing short of a prayer

This deep-longing expressed was nothing short of a prayer!

2. Longing for the salvation that only God could bring about

In the battle against evil atheists who had no fear of God in their hearts, many were made captives. Only God Himself could free them from captivity.

3. Expressing a strong sense of hope

Israel (“Jacob”) must remain hopeful and continue to rejoice in the Lord!
