Psalm 22:15a "My strength is dried up like a potsherd"

Day 169 – Psalm 22

“My strength is dried up like a potsherd” Psalm 22:15a

HOW MUCH SUFFERING CAN A PERSON TAKE?

How great is human strength against “bulls” and “lions”? The psalmist David admitted that he found himself feeling terribly afraid.

“I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted within Me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.”
Psalm 22:14-15

2. “You have brought Me to the dust of death”

a) This is not a statement of anger or disbelief.
b) It is a statement of fact.
i) The suffering of Jesus was far more intense than we would ever realize.
ii) He was indeed brought “to the dust of death”.
iii) The suffering of Jesus was consciously endured.
iv) There was no palliative drug to take away the acuteness of the pain that had to be endured as part of the payment of the penalty of sin
