“He shall receive blessing from the LORD…” Psalm 24:5

THE THOUGHT OF GOD’S BLESSINGS

This thought was well explored in the Book of Psalms. The promise of blessing from God may be found in the following texts:-

1. Blessing upon the righteous man (Psalm 1:1; 5:12)
2. Blessing promised to those who trust the Lord (Psalm 2:12)
3. Blessing upon God’s people (Psalm 3:8)

ASSURANCE OF BLESSING

The promise of blessing is now meditated upon, this time in the light of those who seek the Lord in worship.

“He shall receive blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face.”
Psalm 24:5-6

1. “Blessing from the LORD”

a) This is assured.
b) The blessing of “righteousness”
i) He will impute righteousness to the believer.
ii) He will be allowed to enter into God’s holy hill.
c) The blessing of “salvation”
i) Physical deliverance
ii) Spiritual salvation

2. “This is Jacob”

a) Remembering the time when Jacob turned from sin to God.
b) David likened his generation to Jacob.
c) All who sincerely seek the Lord would find Him as Jacob did (Genesis 28).
