Day 190 – Psalm 25

“Good and upright is the LORD…” Psalm 25:8

THE WEIGHT OF SIN

David must have felt the weight of his “sins and transgressions”. This is intimated in the following text.

“For Your name’s sake, O LORD,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.”
Psalm 25:11

1. We are not told what this iniquity is.

2. But it was a great sin as far as David was concerned.

3. It might well be related to the many battles he was engaged in.

EXERCISING FAITH IN GOD

Would God make atonement for his sins and transgressions? David would have to put all his trust in the knowledge that he had about God.

“Good and upright is the LORD;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches in the way.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.”
Psalm 25:8-10

1. How would God deal with “sinners” who confessed their sins?

2. He believed that God would not reject the plea for forgiveness of the sinful:

a) If they confessed their sins
b) If they were genuinely humble
c) If they were willing to be taught by the Lord

3. God would always find it in His heart to teach sinners

a) Because He is wonderfully “good and upright”.
b) His delight would be to teach people His paths of mercy and truth.
c) He would teach them how to keep His covenant and His testimonies.
