“Oh, magnify the LORD with me…” Psalm 34:3

PURPOSE OF SHARING

People share their life experiences for different reasons. One of David’s goals was to exhort people to exalt the Lordâ??s name.

“Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I sought the LORD, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:3-4

1. “Oh, magnify the LORD… exalt His name”

a) It is perfectly right to speak of “blessing the Lordâ??s name” (Psalm 34:1).
b) The call to praise the Lord now has an added nuance.
i) To magnify the Lord
ii) To exalt His name
c) This does not mean mere embellishment.
i) This is a call to give to God the fullness of glory.
ii) Man cannot do enough to give to the Lord that which is His due.
d) God deserves the highest form of praise!

2. “I sought the LORD, and He heard me”

a) Seeking the Lord is the most natural inclination of the heart.
i) As naturally as a child would seek to relate to his father.
ii) As naturally as a person in fear would seek the Lord’s help.
b) Hearing of our prayers
i) This truth should cause our hearts to bless the Lord’s name.
ii) The deliverance of all our fears is something to exult in.

It should cause us to desire to exalt His holy name!
