THE WAYS OF MAN

The ways of man are well known to God, whether those ways are characterised by righteousness or wickedness. This is a thought that must bring comfort to the heart of the righteous.

GOD’S REGARD FOR THE RIGHTEOUS

The following text is drawn from observations of life.

“The LORD knows the days of the upright,
And their inheritance shall be forever.
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time,
And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.”
Psalm 37:18-19

1. “The Lord knows”

a) This text teaches us about the omniscience of God.
b) It also teaches us about God’s deep and personal concern about man.

2. “The upright”

a) The upright are identified and acknowledged.
b) They will be especially regarded by the Lord.

3. “The days”

a) A reference to his life on earth.
b) Some days are rightly called “the evil time” (hard times of suffering).
c) There may also be “days of famine”.

4. God’s promise to the righteous

a) The inheritance they have from God would last forever.
b) Even in the days of famine “they shall be satisfied”.

A SPECIAL WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS

This word was written to encourage all who walked uprightly. There may be tough days, but the heart may draw much encouragement from this knowledge of God.
