Technical skills are always good to acquire and cultivate. Technical skills are needed to make music sound even better. However the singing of praise to God must go beyond mere technical skills. This is intimated in the following text.
“My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,
And my soul, which You have redeemed.” Psalm 71:23
