Day 29 – Psalm 73

“But it is good for me to draw near to God…” Psalm 73:28a

WITH DEEP GRATITUDE

The psalmist Asaph must have felt a deep sense of gratitude as he concluded the writing of this psalm. He must have felt compelled to share with his readers just how he got out of his spiritual dilemma.

“But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,
That I may declare all Your works.
Psalm 73:28

1. “But it is good for me to draw near to God”

a) This is a spiritual adage that would bear the test of time.
b) It is always good and important to draw near to God.
i) Fears are addressed and removed.
ii) Misgivings are corrected.
iii) Despair will be defeated.
iv) Fresh hope and strength will be given to all who draw near to God.

2. “I have put my trust in the Lord GOD”

a) There was of course initial trust.
b) And because of drawing near to God there was now a renewed trust.
c) This trust may be said to have become even deeper and stronger.

3. “That I may declare all Your works”

a) There came a new sense of purpose and responsibility.
b) Asaph felt he must now declare the works of God.
i) He would now be able to speak with even greater conviction.
ii) He would now be in a better position to help others who may be experiencing those dark moments of unbelief and fear; he must declare what God had done for him and how He had brought about revival.
