Day 58 – Psalm 75

“The horns of the righteous shall be exalted.” Psalm 75:10b

A LAST WORD OF ASSURANCE

The Psalmist Asaph must have been glad to be able to conclude his psalm on a wonderful note of assurance from the Lord.

“All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off,
But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
Psalm 75:10

1. “All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off”

a) All the horns
i) Every vestige of power.
ii) Even the small but potentially deadly horns of power will be dealt with.
b) The wicked
i) God will not allow the wicked to prevail.
ii) He will personally see to the destruction of the power of the wicked.
iii) He will cut off the horns of the wicked Himself.

2. “But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted”

a) A strong contrast was intended.
b) The use of the contrastive conjunction “but” was purposely chosen and employed.
c) The horns of the righteous:-
i) The righteous has its own source of power.
ii) Their power is based on principles of righteousness.
iii) Their horns stand in contrast to the horns of wickedness.
d) God was committed to exalting the horns of the righteous.
i) He will personally ensure the advancement of the righteous.
ii) Exaltation comes from the Lord and He will exalt the righteous.
iii) This was truly cause for both joy and praise!
