In the search for God we must become better acquainted with our soul. Many sadly neglect the cultivation of the soul in favour of developing the physical part of the human being.
Man may be said to be made up of two main parts:-
1. The physical-visible
This is essentially the human body. The human body is made up of many aspects:-
a) The intellect.
b) The emotions.
c) The physical organs that must be healthy to keep us alive and well.
2. The spiritual-invisible
There is another aspect of the human being that must be given more attention.
a) God has given us a soul (a psyche).
b) Its functions include:-
i) The heart.
ii) The conscience.
c) The soul is sometimes called “the spirit of man”.
3. The soul can feel “troubled”
a) It can feel “out of sorts”.
b) It can feel “restlessness”.
c) It can feel “depressed”.
4. The well-trained soul
a) It is not afraid of feeling “troubled”.
b) This state of the soul will only drive it to search for God even more diligently.
c) The soul will enable the individual to develop an even closer relationship with God.
d) One does not need to be worried if the soul feels “troubled”.
