“By His power…” Psalm 78:26b

SO MUCH DIVINE POWER

God’s provision for the children of Israel was clear evidence of Divine power. How could the children of Israel have missed the point?

“He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens;
And by His power He brought in the south wind.
He also rained meat on them like the dust,
Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas.”
Psalm 78:26-27

1. The clouds

a) They are in God’s power to command.
b) He could have caused the clouds to bring terrible rain.
c) He could also cause the clouds to rain down manna.

2. The winds

a) The winds were in God’s power too.
b) Both the east and south winds are in His control.

3. He also rained meat on them like the dust

a) It would be “normal” if God caused the rain to come from the clouds.
b) Instead the clouds brought manna.
c) The Lord now caused the winds to bring them meat.

4. Like the dust

a) Strong winds in the desert are feared because they create sandstorms.
b) But the dust this time round was not a sand storm but wondrous provision of meat.

5. Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas

a) Just how much meat did God bring to the children of Israel?
b) Two descriptions say it all:-
i) Like the dust.
ii) Like the sand of the seas.
