“The haters of the LORD…” Psalm 81:15a
SECRET ENEMIES
There were powerful external enemies. They were a threat to the security of the nation. But there were also secret enemies who proved to be as much a threat to Israel.
“The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him,
But their fate would endure forever.”
Psalm 81:15
1. Who were these secret enemies?
a) They are identified as “haters of the LORD”.
b) They are those who “pretend submission to Him”.
2. More specifically
a) There were false prophets.
b) There were bad priests.
c) There were evil kings.
d) There were wicked counselors.
e) There were foolish and false brethren.
3. What did they do?
a) They turned the hearts of the people to idolatry.
b) They made foolish political alliances that got Israel into deeper trouble.
c) They viciously attacked the true prophets of God.
d) They corrupted the worship of God.
BUT THEIR FATE WOULD ENDURE FOREVER
These deadly enemies brought great ruin to the nation of Israel. They may seem to have gotten away with their wicked deeds, but that would be a wrong conclusion.
