Psalm 87:4a "To those who know Me..."

Day 292 – Psalm 87

“To those who know Me…” Psalm 87:4a

A PRIVILEGE TO KNOW GOD

Moses thought that the children of Israel were especially privileged to know God. This was highlighted in the following text.

“Did any people ever hear the voice of God speaking
out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?
Or did God ever try to go and take for Himself a nation
from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by
wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God
did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD
Himself is God; there is none other besides Him.”
Deuteronomy 4:33-35

HOW DID GOD REVEAL HIMSELF TO HIS PEOPLE?

Let us take a look at the following means revealed in the above text.

1. In the days of Moses

a) Through speaking to His people directly (Exodus 20).
b) Through mighty deeds:-
i) By signs and wonders
ii) By trials
iii) By a mighty hand
iv) By the defeat of Egypt

2. In the days of the prophets and the sons of Korah

a) Through the defeat of Rahab-Hem-Shebeth.
b) Through the defeat of Babylon.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

Moses said it well. Let us be reminded of two great truths:-

1. That the LORD is truly God.

2. There is none like this great God who revealed Himself so gloriously.
