“But to You I have cried out, O LORD…” Psalm 88:13a

NO ANSWERS FROM GOD

Heman the Ezrahite did not receive any reply to his series of questions from God. Would he now cease his praying? The resolute psalmist did not cease in his prayer efforts. He persevered.

“But to You I have cried out, O LORD,
And in the morning my prayer comes before You.”
Psalm 88:13

1. “But”

a) Heman struggled against all he felt.
i) His doubts
ii) His fears
iii) His despair
b) With all that he possessed he prayed on.
i) His knowledge of God’s word.
ii) His personal and deep faith in God.
iii) His strength.

2. “To You I have cried out, O LORD”

a) He believed that God had heard his prayers.
b) He was the LORD, the God of his salvation.
c) His prayers were not in vain, even if answers were not forthcoming immediately.

3. “And in the morning my prayer comes before You”

a) He must have drawn encouragement from other psalms he is familiar with. David wrote about praying to God in the morning (Psalm 5:3; Psalm 55:17).
b) It was his duty to pray on behalf of the nation.
c) It was also his personal commitment to seek God in prayer in the morning.
d) He was going to hold fast to his faith in God amidst silence from Him.
