“And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD…” Psalm 89:5a

SPONTANEOUS PRAISE OF GOD

Many things may move the heart to offer praise to God. What things move your heart to offer spontaneous praise to God? Ethan felt deeply moved to offer praise as he pondered God’s covenant with David.

“And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD;
Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints.”
Psalm 89:5

1. Who will praise God?

a) “The heavens”

i) The physical creation of God.

ii) All that inhabit the heavens.

iii) There is a hint of angelic beings as we compare this couplet.

b) “In the assembly of the saints”

i) In the temple where worshippers gather to praise God and to pray.

ii) In the home where the faithful saints remember God.

iii) On earth saints would praise God as the angels in heaven would worship Him.

2. What would they praise God for?

a) They would praise the Lord for who He is.

i) Creator

ii) Sustainer

iii) Ruler of the whole world

b) They would praise God for all the wonders the eye can behold.

i) Every work of God is truly a wonder.

ii) God’s covenant with man is also a wonder that should cause the heart to offer praise.

c) They would praise God for being so gloriously faithful to all His creatures.
