CONTEMPLATION ON GOD’S WORK IN OUR LIFE

Another meaningful activity on the Sabbath day is to contemplate on the work of the Lord in our life.

“But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been anointed with fresh oil.
My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies;
My ears hear my desire on the wicked
Who rise up against me.”
Psalm 92:10-11

1. God’s work in our personal life

a) “My horn”
i) This is a reference to “power”.
ii) A king may speak of “a horn of salvation” (Psalm 18:2, means “strength of salvation”).
b) “Like a wild ox”
i) Raw power is in mind.
ii) God gives very real strength to those who abide in Him.
c) “Anointed with fresh oil”
i) This is often associated with being appointed to a significant public office (e.g. a king).
ii) It could also be used to describe the way in which it refreshes the spirit of His servants.

2. “Enemies”

a) The psalmist desires that wicked enemies be dealt with by the Lord.
b) He sees his desire fulfilled by the Lord.
c) The word “enemies”
i) Your enemies (God’s)
ii) My enemies (The psalmist’s)
iii) They are the same group of people; they will perish by Divine judgment.
