"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness..."

Text: Romans 10:10

SALVATION EXPLAINED IN EASY LANGUAGE

While there is a need to explain doctrines to those who are theologically minded, there is also a need to explain Biblical teachings in simpler terms. Paul went on to explain the doctrine of salvation in very simple terms indeed.

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness,
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not
be put to shame.'”
Romans 10:10-11

1. Believing

a) The content of belief must include:-
i) God who raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 10:9).
ii) The Lord Jesus who died for our sins (Romans 10:9).
b) Wherein is this belief to take place?
i) In the mind- for it must digest the message of the Gospel.
ii) In the heart- for there must be a genuine response at a deeper level.
iii) With the mouth- for there must be happy confession of our faith in Christ.

2. Response of God to our faith (“belief”)

a) We have righteousness imputed to us.
b) We have salvation (in other words).

3. The Scripture

a) The authority of the Scripture is cited for good reason.
b) There is great assurance from the Scripture that faith in God will not be in vain.
c) The true believer need not fear that he would ever be “ashamed” of placing his faith in the Lord!
d) Complex or simple understanding does not affect salvation; what matters is true faith.
