HOW MAY WE KNOW WHO HAS THE SPIRIT OF GOD IN HIM?

It is all very well to claim that the Spirit of God resides within us! How may we know for sure that He really does live within us? Paul has this sage advice to offer.

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds
on the things of the flesh, but those who live according
to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
Romans 8:5

HOW MAY WE KNOW WHO HAS THE SPIRIT OF GOD IN HIM?

1. Those who do not truly have the Spirit of God

a) These live “according to the flesh”.

i) They will be beset by their weakness.

ii) They will be controlled by sin.

iii) Evil will exude from their life.

b) These will be known by their mindset.

i) They will set their minds on things of the flesh.

ii) They will pursue the things of the world.

iii) They will not be inclined to cultivating their spiritual life at all.

2. Those who truly have the Spirit of God

a) They will live “according to the Spirit”.

i) They will walk in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus.

ii) They will seek to live as the Lord Jesus did.

iii) They will be led by the Spirit of God.

b) They will pursue the things of the Spirit.

i) There will be a love for the Lord.

ii) There will be a desire for things that are good, holy and spiritual.
