"The angel who talked with me"

Text: Zechariah 4:1

THE TEACHING ANGEL

Zechariah was blessed to have a teaching angel who guided him in his understanding of the visions that came from the LORD.

“Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me,
as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.”
Zechariah 4:1

1. The ministry of the teaching angel

a) He talked with Zechariah.

i) He played the role of a teacher.

ii) Along the way, the teaching angel also became a friend.

b) “Came back”

i) He was probably summoned back to heaven.

ii) His work was not done yet.

iii) He came back to teach Zechariah.

c) “And wakened me”

i) The teaching angel had to wake Zechariah up from his sleep.

ii) Visions were not easily comprehended.

iii) Zechariah was probably very tired after seeking to understand the visions.

2. “As a man who is wakened out of his sleep”

a) Zechariah admitted that he had fallen asleep.

b) He also admitted that he felt like one who had been awakened recently.

c) Just awakened

i) He would need to be as fully conscious as possible.

ii) He would need to be alert.

iii) He would need to learn more from his teaching angel.
