"The LORD is righteous in her midst"

Text: Zephaniah 3:5

THE LORD’S ROLE AMIDST A SINFUL NATION

What was the LORD’S role amidst a sinful nation? The darkness did not completely snuff out the light of the LORD God.

“The LORD is righteous in her midst,
He will do no unrighteousness.
Every morning He brings His justice to light;
He never fails, but the unjust knows no shame.”
Zephaniah 3:5

1. The Person of God

a) He remains “righteous”.

b) He will do no unrighteousness.

2. The activities of the LORD

a) These are daily activities.

b) They are on-going things.

c) He brings justice to light.

d) He never fails.

3. How does God do these things

a) There would be a small remnant who would remain faithful to the Lord.

b) To the faithful ones God would always be there for them.

i) He will show them His righteousness.

ii) He will uphold justice through the righteous ones.

iii) He will never fail to uphold them.

c) Who were these who sought to practise righteousness?

i) Prophets like Zephaniah.

ii) Those who listened to the word of God preached.

iii) Essentially, the remnant.

4. The unrighteous

a) They will continue to rebel.

b) They know no shame.

c) They will continue with their wickedness.

d) Woe would befall them in due time.
