(I) THINGS THAT WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE FORGOTTEN

“Remember these, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant…” Isaiah 44:21

1. Negative Past

a) The idolatrous practices of Israel ( Isaiah 44:9-20 )

They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.”

And like a cloud, your sins…”

And glorified Himself in Israel…”

3. The Positive Future

a) He will confirm the word given to His servants

“Who confirms the word of His servant,
And performs the counsel of His messengers…”
Isaiah 44:26

b) He will raise up special servants who will do God’s bidding

“Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,
And he shall perform all My pleasure,
Saying to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be built,
And to the temple. ‘Your foundation shall be laid.’ ”
Isaiah 44:28

And Israel…My servant…”

“Fear not, O Jacob, My servant…” Isaiah 44:2c

3. Seek to quench spiritual thirst

“But I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground…”

4. Tracking with great joy God’s redemptive work

“Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it!
Shout, you lower parts of the earth;
Break forth into singing, you mountains,
O forest and every tree in it!
For the LORD has redeemed Jacob,
And glorified Himself in Israel.”
