INTRODUCTION: THE NEED FOR HOPE IN LIFE

1. Hope drives us to live well

2. Finding hope in our salvation

a. A sure hope
b. A steadfast hope

3. Hope encourages us

a. To keep developing our faith
b. To focus
c. To build courage

FINDING HOPE IN OUR CALLING TO SALVATION

1. Called to enter into salvation in Christ   (Ephesians 1: 13)

a. To hear the gospel of our salvation
b. To believe it

2. Called to receive an inheritance as part of our salvation in Christ   (Ephesians 1: 11)

a. One aspect of that “inheritance” is to have a place prepared for us in heaven
b. This inheritance is given to all who believe in Jesus and are saved

3. Hope found

a. Based on the salvation we have received
b. Based on the promise of a heavenly inheritance

APPLYING HOPE IN OUR LIFE

cf. Hebrews 6: 18 – 19

1. Imagery of hope as an anchor   (Hebrews 6: 19)

a. It is sure
b. It is steadfast

2. Our challenge

a. To lay hold of this hope   (Hebrews 6: 18)
b. To hold fast to it till the end of life

FROM HOPE TO COURAGE: THE EXAMPLE OF THE LORD JESUS

Cf. John 14: 1 – 3

1. Jesus taught His disciples by example

2. He had a hope in heaven

3. His hope translated to courage in facing death

APPLICATION TO THE BILINGUAL BRETHREN

1. To find hope in salvation

2. To apply hope in life

3. To find courage to face death
