(I) GEORGE MULLER – EARLY LIFE

1. Not a believer

a) Drinking

b) Gambling

c) Stealing and scheming money off friends

d) Jailed at the age of 16 years old

2. Becoming a believer

a) Invited by a friend to a Bible study

b) Experience the reality of God

3. Becoming a servant of God

a) Accepted as a missionary by the London Society

b) The Lord brought him to Bristol

c) Started a preaching ministry at the Churches

(II) GEORGE MULLER – HAVING A VIBRANT FAITH AND LIFE

1. Faith in the word of God

a) A man guided by the word of God from beginning of his ministry to the end

b) Read the Bible through 200 times

c) Started the Scripture knowledge Institution for home and abroad

i) 63 years of ministry

ii) Distributed more than 200,000 Bibles all over the word

“That the word of God alone is our standard of judgment in spiritual things…”

2. Faith in caring for the poor, especially orphans

a) Saw the dreadful plight of streets kids

b) Challenged by and followed the example of August H. Franke

c) Raising this issue of an orphan house before his fellow Christians

d) By the end of the year, he raised more than 5000 pounds

3. Faith in a God who hears and answers prayers

a) His Basis

i) The Scriptures ( Matthew 7:7 )

ii) Encouraged by August H. Franke

b) He prayed daily for God’s provision

i) God provided more than enough for the first two years

ii) The next seven years were tough years.

iii) A Father of the fatherless ( Psalm 68:5 )

iv) God provided a much bigger place in two years at Ashley downs

c) God answering his prayers always

4. Faith to reach the world

a) Went all over the world preaching and teaching the word

b) Shared about his success in running the orphanage

c) Always wanted to be a missionary

d) Preached more than 8000 times to more than 300,000 people.

(III) GEORGE MULLER – A GOOD TESTIMONY OF A VIBRANT FAITH AND LIFE

1. A testimony of an unwavering faith in God hearing and answering prayers

“Ask and it shall be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be open to you.” Matthew 7:7

“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

2. A testimony of an unabated faithfulness to the Lord’s leading

a) He had always wanted to be a missionary

b) He stayed where he was.

c) He was not a missionary and yet his influence was on many.

3. A testimony of an uncompromising faith in the Scriptures

a) He believed in it

b) He read it

c) He preached it

d) He was guided by it

e) He spread it
