(I) HAVING PAST TRUST IN GOD

“But I have trusted in Your mercy…” Psalm 13:5

1. Learnt to place trust in the Lord

2. Learnt to place trust in the Lord’s mercy

(II) WHEN TRUST IN THE LORD CAN BE SHAKEN

“How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?” Psalm 13:1-2

1. Emotions

a) Doubt

b) Sorrows

2. Enemies

(III) A PRAYER FOR ENLIGHTEMENT FROM GOD

“Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death; lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.” Psalm 13:3-4

1. Enlightenment helps us to have clarity of trust instead of blind trust

2. Enlightenment brings about greater trust rather than more emotions

3. Enlightenment helps us to re-focus on God’s great mercy

(IV) THE CHALLENGE TO HAVE GREATER TRUST FOR THE FUTURE

“My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation, I will sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:5-6

1. Seeing God’s hand

a) Salvation

b) God’s bountiful blessings

2. Having Great determination

a) To rejoice in the Lord

b) To sing to the Lord
