THE CALL OF GOD TO WORSHIP HIM

1. The greatness of God   (Psalm 50:1)

a. The Mighty One, God the Lord
b. God calls to His people from heaven

2. To all His people   (Psalm 50:4-5)

a. His saints
b. Those who made a covenant with Him
c. Even the wicked   (Psalm 50:16)

3. To hear Him speak   (Psalm 50:7)

THE LORD EVALUATES OUR WORSHIP OF HIM

1. God as a righteous judge   (Psalm 50:6)

2. Correcting Wrong focus in worship

a. Focusing on externalities   (Psalm 50:8-9)
i The problem of just offering perpetual sacrifices of animals
ii The people thought that God is pleased with offering many sacrifices
b. The Lord’s correction of such a focus   (Psalm 50:10, 11)
i Every beast of the earth is His
ii The world and all His fullness are His

3. Judging and rebuking the wicked   (Psalm 50:16 – 21)

THE CHALLENGE TO WORSHIP THE LORD CORRECTLY

1. Praise to God

“Whoever offers praise glorifies Me…”   Psalm 50:23

2. Giving thanks to God

“Offer to God thanksgiving…”   Psalm 50:14

3. Praying to God

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”   Psalm 50:15

4. Conduct before God

“And to him who orders his conduct aright…”   Psalm 50:23

THE RESULTS OF HAVING RIGHT WORSHIP BEFORE GOD

1. The Lord is glorified

“Whoever offers praise glorifies Me…”   Psalm 50:23

2. The Lord will show His salvation

“I will show the salvation of God.”   Psalm 50:23
