I WILL PRAISE YOU YET MORE AND MORE
Text: Psalm 71

(I) THE DANGERS THAT CAN PREVENT US FROM PRAISING GOD CONTINUALLY
1. Severity of troubles
“Great and severe troubles…” Psalm 71:20
2. Distresses related to growing old
“Do not cast me off in the time of old age, do not forsake me when my strength fails…” Psalm 71:9, 18
“Now also when I am old and grayheaded…” Psalm 71:18
a) Feelings of being forsaken
b) Failing strength
c) Feebleness
3. Being down and out
“Depths of the earth…” Psalm 71:20
(II) THE DEFINITE HOPE THAT WOULD KEEP US PRAISING THE LORD
“But I will hope continually and will praise You yet more and more…” Psalm 71:4
1. Hope and praise are closely linked
2. Hope as a powerful motivating factor to praise God
3. Fighting every negative thought with hope and praise
(III) THE DIVINE ATTRIBUTES THAT WE CAN HOPE IN
1. Hope in God’s faithfulness
a) Upheld from birth ( Psalm 71:6 )
b) Trusting God from youth ( Psalm 71:5 )
c) Still trusting in old age ( Psalm 71:18 )
2. Hope in God’s strength
a) Going in the strength of the Lord ( Psalm 71:16 )
b) Declaring His strength ( Psalm 71:18 )
(IV) THE DETERMINATION TO PRAISE THE LORD MORE AND MORE
“And will praise You yet more and more.” Psalm 71:14
1. Personal attitude to praise God continually
“My praise shall be continually of You.” Psalm 71:6
“But You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with your praise and with your glory all the day.” Psalm 71:7
2. Personal ardor to speak of the Lord till the end
a) Persevering in declaring His works
“And to this day I declare your wondrous works…” Psalm 71:17
b) Prayer to declare about God’s strength to this generation and the next
“O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.” Psalm 71:18
3. Personal adding on in praising of the Lord
a) Adding on greater understanding and trust in God
“Also your righteousness, O God, is very high…” Psalm 71:19
b) Adding on ways and depth to praise Him
“Also with the lute I will praise You –” Psalm 71:22
i) Singing with great joy
ii) Singing with the soul
iii) Talking of God all the day
