A. General Problems
1. Problems in life
a) To be expected

i) Murmuring/ Complaining

2. Persistence of problems

C. THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH
1. The calling and training of the prophet Jeremiah
a) Called according to the foreknowledge of God Jeremiah 1:5
b) Training of the prophet Jeremiah 1:7-8
i) Not to be afraid of speaking
ii) Not to be afraid of people
iii) To speak what God commands
iv) To have God’s word in his mouth

3. Addressing some of the specific problems of God’s People

i) The prophets prophesy falsely
ii) The priests rule by their own power
iii) My people love to have it so
y) They have not heeded My words, nor My law
But rejected it Jeremiah 6:19
z) Worship and offerings rejected
Your burnt offerings are not acceptable Jeremiah 6:20
4. Offering some solutions
a) Returning to the LORD Jeremiah 3:1
“Return to Me” Jeremiah 3:7
“Return, backsliding Israel” Jeremiah 3:11
“Return, O backsliding children” Jeremiah 3:14
b) Crying out to God
“My Father, You are the guide of my youth” Jeremiah 3:4
c) Acknowledge your iniquity Jeremiah 3:13
That you have transgressed against the LORD your God
d) I will bring you to Zion Jeremiah 3:14
e) I will give you shepherds according to My heart Jeremiah 3:15
i) Who will feed you
ii) With knowledge
iii) With understanding
f) I will heal your backsliding Jeremiah 3:22
g) Break up your fallow grounds Jeremiah 4:3
h) Circumcise… the foreskins of your hearts Jeremiah 4:4
i) Take refuge! Do not delay Jeremiah 4:6
j) Ask for the old paths Jeremiah 6:16
Where the good way is, and walk in it
k) I will refine them and try them Jeremiah 9:7
l) Glorying in the LORD Jeremiah 9:23-24
i) Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom
ii) Let not the mighty man glory in his might
iii) Nor let the rich man glory in his riches
iv) Let him who glories, glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness,
Judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight, says the LORD
m) Fear of the LORD Jeremiah 10:6-7
n) O LORD, correct me, but with justice Jeremiah 10:23-24
o) That they may become My people
For renown, for praise, and for glory Jeremiah 13:11
p) It will be well for the remnant Jeremiah 15:11
q) If you return, I will bring you back Jeremiah 15:19-21
r) I will cause them to know My hand and My might Jeremiah 16:21
s) Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD Jeremiah 17:7
He shall be like a tree planted
By the rivers of water
t) You are my hope in the day of doom Jeremiah 17:17
u) The LORD is with me as a mighty, awesome One Jeremiah 20:11
v) I will set My eyes on them for good Jeremiah 24:6
