BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU

PROPHECIES CONCERNING THE MESSIAH-KING

A number of prophecies focused on the Lord sending His Messiah to be the King of Israel. The following may be highlighted:-

1. He would be “A Branch of Righteousness” from the line of David       Jeremiah 33:15

2. He would be given a Kingdom that would never be destroyed           Daniel 7:14

3. He would come in the name of the LORD             Psalm 118:26

4. He would enter into Jerusalem sitting on the foal of an ass           Zechariah 9:9

THE FULFILMENT OF PROPHECIES

The significance of prophecies being fulfilled must not be lost!

1. It is hard enough to make a true prophecy

2. It is even harder to see prophecies fulfilled
Yet, prophecy after prophecy was fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ!

3. When prophecies are actually fulfilled, we must take note of their significance!

a) The prophetic word is truly alive and thus its fulfilment

b) There is great power at work. God’s divine power will ensure the fulfilment of the prophetic word

c) The prophecies confirm for us the relevance of God’s word

d) The Messianic prophecies help us identify the Person of Jesus

i) As the Anointed One of God (Messiah)

ii) As the King of Israel

iii) As the Saviour of the world

iv) As the Lord of all creation

v) As the Master of all who place their trust in Him

RENEWAL OF OUR FAITH IN GOD’S WORD

As we see the fulfilment of the prophetic word, let our hearts be challenged to respond appropriately.

1. Renewal of interest in the study of the Scriptures

2. Renewal of faith in the Lord’s word

3. Renewal of commitment to hide the Lord’s word in our heart

4. Renewal of determination to put into practice the Word of God that we have learned

5. Renewal of love for God and His word
