THE RIGHTEOUS MAN WALKS IN HIS INTEGRITY

Text: Proverbs 20
15 June 2014

WE CELEBRATE FATHER’S DAY

We honour all who are fathers and who have sought to walk in integrity.

The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7

MARKS OF A GOOD FATHER

What are the marks of a good father honoured by the Lord? Two are highlighted in this text.

1. The righteous man

a) There is imputed righteousness

i) This comes from the Lord

ii) It is part and parcel of the salvation given by the Lord

b) There is also personal righteousness

i) The redeemed desires to walk in paths of righteousness

ii) He pursues righteousness

iii) His walk is marked by righteousness

c) In time

i) He earns the reputation of being a righteous man

ii) The Lord honours all who walk in righteousness

2. Walks in integrity

a) The righteous man determines to become a man of integrity

b) He understands how to walk in integrity through knowledge of the Scriptures

c) He then seeks to walk in integrity

i) This does not mean he is sinless

ii) He knows that he will falter and fail at times

iii) He will quickly repent from his sins and attempt once again to walk with the Lord as faithfully as he can

GOD’S BLESSINGS

God is pleased with those who seek to walk in their integrity.

1. The Lord will bless the individual for walking in integrity

2. He promises to bless the descendants of the righteous

Let us be stirred within our hearts to walk in integrity at all times! Let all fathers renew their commitment to walk in integrity so that their children may be wonderfully blessed!
