SEEKING THE LORD

The Psalmist who wrote Psalm 119 is a wonderful example of one who sought the Lord. The following are some statements he made to follow through with his decision to seek the Lord.

With my whole heart I have sought You

Psalm 119:10

PRACTICAL EXPRESSIONS

Let us ponder what the Psalmist said he would do in seeking the Lord.

I will meditate on Your precepts,

And contemplate Your ways.

I will delight myself in Your statutes;

I will not forget Your word.

Psalm 119:15-16

  1. I will meditate on Your precepts

a. Hearing God’s word is good and important

b. We need to meditate on His precepts

i. Take time to review

ii. Take time to think through

iii. Take time to fathom God’s precepts thoroughly

  1. And contemplate Your ways

a. God’s precepts are His commandments written in the Scriptures

b. His ways are revealed: –

i. In the way God relates to His people

ii. His ways are seen in His blessings

iii. His ways are also seen in His judgments

iv. His ways are made very clear when we read the Scriptures carefully

  1. I will delight in Your statutes

a. Understanding is only the basic step

b. We must be challenged to delight in the Lord’s word

  1. I will not forget Your word

a. This is an important step to take

b. It means making effort to remember God’s Word

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO SEEK GOD’S FACE?

The Psalmist has given us a wonderful example of how he sought the Lord. What steps are you taking to seek the Lord’s face?
