PRAISING GOD AND HIS WORKS
Text: Psalm 145
27 August 2017
A WONDERFUL PSALM TO READ
There are a number of Psalms that feature the works of the Lord. Psalm 145 is one of them! The Psalmist David devoted much time to detail some of the works of the Lord as he personally experienced them!
One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
All Your works shall praise You, O LORD,
And Your saints shall bless You. Psalm 145:4, 10
SOME WORKS OF GOD
The following are the works that we could easily identify with: –
1. God’s upholding
a) He upholds those who fall. Psalm 145:14a
b) He raises up those who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14b
2. God’s provision
a) You give them food in due season. Psalm 145:15
b) You satisfy the desire of every living thing. Psalm 145:16
3. God’s Presence
a) The LORD is near to all who call upon Him. Psalm 145:18
b) He will hear their prayers. Psalm 145:19a
c) Her will save them. Psalm 145:19b
4. God’s Preservation
a) He will protect all who love Him
b) He will preserve them. Psalm 145:20
REVELATION OF GOD
The works of God reveal His many glorious attributes. The following may be highlighted:
1. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. Psalm 145:8a
2. He is slow to anger and great in mercy. Psalm 145:8b
3. He is good to all. Psalm 145:9a
4. The LORD is righteous in all His ways. Psalm 145:17
APPROPRIATE RESPONSES
Let us ponder the following appropriate responses to the Lord our God.
1. Let us extol the Lord. Psalm 145:1-2
2. Let us praise His works. Psalm 145:4a
3. Let us declare His mighty acts. Psalm 145:4b
4. Let us sing of His righteousness. Psalm 145:7
The list of appropriate responses is certainly not limited to the above! These are listed only as some of the ways in which we can appropriately respond to the Lord for all He has blessed us with! It is only right that we give heartful thanks to the Lord our God on the occasion of the celebration of Bethany’s 40+4 Anniversary!
