IN CHRIST

Text: Ephesians 1

THE HEART OF CHRISTIANITY

What is the heart of Christianity? The Apostle Paul astutely used two words to summarise it- “In Christ!”

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing

In the heavenly places in Christ,

 

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,

That we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.

 

Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ

To Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

 

To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us

Accepted  in the Beloved.     Ephesians 1:3-6 

  1. God the Father

a) Paul wrote of Him reverently

b) He is called the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ

c) We are given the privilege to be called “sons” by adoption

  1. God’s Plan of salvation

a) His plan is one of blessing His children

b) He has given us every spiritual blessing we need in life and ministry

c) His plan included the following: –

i)   His choosing

ii)  His predestination

iii) His accepting us as His children

iv) All out of love

v)  The above stem from God’s grace

  1. In Christ

a) The Lord Jesus Christ is rightly called “the Beloved”

b) All that God has planned revolved around Christ Jesus

c) Without Christ, we would have nothing at all
