SEEK THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND

Text: Isaiah 55

THE SEARCH FOR GOD 

The search for God is actually a very normal and wholesome endeavour. Let us ponder the following words the prophet Isaiah wrote.

Seek the Lord while He may be found,

Call upon Him while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way,

And the unrighteous man his thoughts;

Let him return to the Lord,

And He will have mercy on him;

And to our God,

For He will abundantly pardon.     Isaiah 55:6-7

  1. Seek the LORD

a) It is natural for man to seek his Maker

b) It is good and wise to seek God

  1. When would be a good time?

a) Now!

i)  If there is interest

ii) If there is a desire to seek God from the heart

b) When God is near and may be found

i)  God is near to all who seek Him

ii) But He seems far from those who do not seek Him

c) Let us never take for granted time and opportunity

i)  There may not always be time

ii) There may not always be opportunity

  1. What may hinder our search for God?

a) When wickedness is not forsaken

b) When the unrighteous prefers to keep his own thoughts

  1. Turing to God

a) It is like returning to the Lord

b) Like erring man returning to his Creator God

WHAT GOD IS LIKE        

Those who seek God earnestly and humbly will find the following truths:

  1. He is a God of mercy
  1. He will pardon all who turn to Him

a) Repentant

b) Seeking forgiveness

Let us spare no effort to seek God. He will be found by all who seek Him with the whole heart!
