THE CONCEPT OF ZION

The concept of Zion was well-explored and articulated in the Book of Isaiah. Many references were made about Zion.

  1. The origin

a) God is the Originator

b) He alone can bring this to pass

  1. Zion may be understood in a number of ways:

a) Prophetically

i )   There is a future reference

ii)   It will involve Israel

iii)  It will also involve many nations

iv)  It will take place in the Millennial Kingdom that the Lord Jesus would set up when He returns

b) Ideally

i)   It is an ideal concept

ii)  The present ought to be shaped by what God has revealed about the future

iii) It provides tremendous challenge to the heart to attempt to live even more significantly

WONDERFUL FEATURES THAT ARE ALWAYS RELEVANT

Let us ponder the following features:

  1. God will teach us His ways     Isaiah 2:3
  1. The word of the Lord will be taught     Isaiah 2:3
  1. His word will always accomplish what God has sent it to accomplish     Isaiah 55
  1. It will never return to Him void     Isaiah 55

OUR RESPONSE

Let us consider how we should respond to the Word of God that the Lord Himself will teach us:

1. Let us go to the house of the Lord     Isaiah 2:2

2. Let us walk in the light of the Lord given to us through His word     Isaiah 2:5

3. Let us cast away whatever idols of the heart that we may have     Isaiah 2:20

4. Let us stand in awe of the terror of the LORD and the glory of His majesty     Isaiah 2:10, 17, 19, 21

May the Lord be exalted in our Church and in our hearts! Let us take time to dwell on the Lord’s blessings that He has bestowed on us!
