BLESSING THE LORD’S NAME
This was King David’s firm commitment. He was able to do this for the following reasons:
- Personal experience with the Lord
a) God helped to train David as a warrior Psalm 144:1
b) God helped David to experience the following things:
i) His lovingkindness Psalm 144:2
ii) His protection as His high tower Psalm 144:2
iii) His Refuge Psalm 144:2
- Personal comprehension of life
a) The puny nature of man Psalm 144:3
b) Man is but a breath Psalm 143:4
DAVID’S COMMITMENT
David was deeply inspired to attempt the following:
- To sing a new song to the LORD Psalm 144:9
a) To find inspiration to write new songs
b) To come up with the music for the new songs written
- Growing appreciation of God as the Saviour
a) He grants salvation
b) He delivers from difficult circumstances of life Psalm 144:10
PRAYER FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
It is right and proper that we are committed to sharing our faith with the next generation.
- He offered a wonderful prayer for the next generation
a) That the young men would grow up as strong plants Psalm 144:12
b) That the young women would grow up to be stately pillars Psalm 144:12
- That God would bless with material possessions
a) That the barns may be full
b) That the nation might be well-provided for
