I WILL BLESS THE LORD

BLESSING THE LORD

The word “bless” has more than one application. Let us consider the following:

  1. Blessed

a) When we are recipients of the good grace of God

b) When we experience the mercy of God bestowed on us

c) When we recognised the blessings God has poured out on us

  1. Blessing the LORD

a) God does not need anything we can offer Him

b) When we say we “bless the Lord”

i)   We are offering Him praise

ii)  We are offering thanksgiving

iii) We are offering gratitude

iv) We are acknowledging the Lord’s goodness

DAVID’S BLESSING OF THE LORD

There were good and solid reasons why David spoke of blessing the Lord. These were some of the reasons why he blessed the Lord’s name.

  1. The Lord had given him a good inheritance

a) Material

b) Spiritual

i)   The Lord was his portion

ii)  The greatest inheritance was the Lord Himself

  1. The Lord had given him counsel

a) This was in the form of knowledge

b) It was expressed in wisdom

3. The Lord had maintained his lot

a) The Lord preserved what He had given

b) David was kept alive and well

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE       

David desired to give an appropriate response to the Lord!

  1. He would bless the Lord
  1. He would rejoice in Him
  1. His heart would be glad in the Lord
  1. He would find fullness of joy in the presence of the Lord
