WHO MAY DWELL IN YOUR HOLY HILL

Text: Psalm 15
16 January 2022

THE HOLY HILL OF SINAI

On one occasion, the LORD gave an invitation to ascend Mt Sinai (Exodus 24:1). Aaron, Nadab and Abihu (Aaron’s sons), and seventy of the elders of Israel were invited to worship the LORD on the mountain.

However, God allowed only Moses to ascend the mountain. All the rest, including Aaron were to worship the LORD “from afar” (Exodus 24:1). The children of Israel were not allowed to be on the mountain at all (Exodus 24:2).

DWELLING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The Psalmist David meditated on this subject and he wrote insightfully. He was essentially describing the life of an upright man!

1 Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle?

Who may dwell in Your holy hill?

He who walks uprightly,

And works righteousness,

And speaks the truth in his heart;

He who does not backbite with his tongue,

Nor does evil to his neighbor,

Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

In whose eyes a vile person is despised,

But he honors those who fear the Lord;

He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

He who does not put out his money at usury,

Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be moved.     Psalm 15
