SING TO THE LORD

Text: Isaiah 12

A SINGING CHRISTMAS

Have you thought of “a singing Christmas?” Singing is an expression of the heart and soul that have been touched by the Lord! Let us make singing to the Lord a special feature this Christmas!

4 And in that day you will say:

“Praise the LORD, call upon His name;

Declare His deeds among the peoples,

Make mention that His name is exalted.

5 Sing to the LORD,

For He has done excellent things;

This is known in all the earth.

6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion,

For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”     Isaiah 12:4-6

  1. A call to “sing to the Lord”

a) This was clearly expressed

b) This call was issued to the “inhabitant of Zion”

i)  Geographically it was a call to all who lived in Jerusalem

ii) In application, it is a call to all who believe in the Lord

c) How we may sing to the Lord is also carefully explained

  1. Features of “singing to the Lord”

a) Let us offer praise to God

b) Let us call upon His name

c) Let us declare His deeds

d) Let us seek to exalt His name

A SPECIAL REASON HIGHLIGHTED

Isaiah wrote to explain why he believed that singing to the Lord was relevant!

  1. Because of the greatness of the Lord
  1. Our great God is in our midst!

Hence, we have every reason to rejoice in the Lord’s presence among us!
