FALSE TEACHERS

WARNING AGAINST FALSE TEACHERS

This word of warning was given through the centuries.

1. Jeremiah 23

    False prophets

2. Ezekiel 13

    Ezekiel added the threat of false prophetesses     

3. Matthew 24

    The Lord Jesus warned about false prophets too

4. The Apostles Peter, John and Jude

    All warned about false teachers

FALSE TEACHERS AMONG THE BRETHREN

The Apostle Peter warned the church at large concerning this threat.

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 

2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 

3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.     2 Peter 2:1-3

  1. False teachers can’t be eliminated

a) In the Old Testament period, there were false prophets

b) In the New Testament period, there were false teachers

  1. Some features of their false teachings

a) They will teach destructive heresies

b) They will even deny the Lord deliberately 

c) They will exploit people with deceptive words

  1. Sadly, many will follow these false teachers

a) Because they are not discerning

b) They put themselves in grave danger!

LET US GUARD OURSELVES

We are responsible for our own well-being. The Lord has given us all things that pertain to the cultivation of a godly life (2 Peter 1:2-4). Our part is to do due diligence in cultivating knowledge and our faith!
