PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED

Text: Mark 4
23 June 2024

THE KINGDOM PARABLES

The Lord Jesus sought to teach people about the Kingdom of God. Many thought of the Kingdom with reference to the days of Israel when it was ruled by kings. The Kingdom that the Lord Jesus proclaimed was far greater.

30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?

31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth;

32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”     Mark 4:30-32

THE AMAZING KINGDOM OF GOD

The Lord Jesus planted the mustard seed of the Kingdom of God. It was very small. He had only 12 apostles minus one, who formed a core group.

But look at the mustard seed today. It is truly greater than all herbs. The Kingdom of God has become a tree with many branches. Millions have come to rest under the shade of the Kingdom of God.
